This new adaptation reimagines the classic 1980s novel series, set five centuries after Rudolf von Goldenbaum unified humanity’s fractured governments into a vast galactic empire. Though founded as a monument to his own glory and built upon strict discipline, the imperial order he established has gradually eroded over time. Now, the declining empire stands on the brink of war with the Free Planets Alliance, as military commanders on both sides maneuver for advantage in an increasingly inevitable conflict. Within the empire, the ambitious young general Reinhard von Lohengramm views the coming war as a chance to reshape the faltering state according to his own vision. Opposing him is Yang Wen-li, a reluctant soldier and aspiring historian who desires only a quiet life of study but finds himself thrust into the heart of the struggle.
