Official Details
Akira leaves the countryside for Tokyo, eager to begin a new chapter of his life, but his fresh start crumbles before it even begins. Not only has the company that hired him vanished into thin air, but his promised housing has also fallen through. Stranded in the sprawling city without a job or a place to stay, his prospects look bleak—until a timely message arrives from Chihiro, a childhood friend he hasn't seen since they were ten years old. Chihiro offers him a roof over his head, home-cooked meals, and even spending money, but his generosity raises unsettling questions. What drives Chihiro to go to such lengths for someone who is practically a stranger after more than a decade apart? Why does he insist on calling Akira his best friend? And who are the stern, black-suited men who seem to shadow him everywhere? As Akira navigates this unexpected lifeline, he soon realizes that life in the big city may hold far more intrigue—and danger—than he ever imagined.
