Mayonaka no Waltz

In the liminal hours between midnight and dawn, a solitary girl finds her quiet world irrevocably altered when she stumbles upon a being of immense shadow and power—a creature of fang and claw whose outward horror stands in stark contrast to the gentle soul within. Unaware of his own terrifying nature, this monster moves through the moonlit city with the quiet dignity of a man, harboring a profound and desperate belief in his own humanity. Their meeting is not one of simple chance, but a fateful collision of two equally lonely existences, each sensing a kinship in the other's isolation. As she is drawn deeper into his enigmatic life, the protagonist must navigate a treacherous duality, torn between the instinctive fear that his form inspires and the undeniable tenderness of his actions. The creature, clinging to his fragile illusion, seeks a normalcy that the world refuses to grant him, while she becomes an unwitting mirror reflecting the truth he cannot see. The growing intimacy between them forces her to question the very definition of human nature, setting her on a poignant path where she must reconcile the monster's gentle heart with the beast the world perceives. Theirs is a delicate, dangerous dance, a waltz played out in stolen moments, haunted by the inevitable question of whether a creature who believes himself to be human can ever truly find a place in a world that sees only a monster.
