Kokushi Island

Not long ago, non-fiction writer Katsuragi Shiho paid a visit to Shikibu Takeru at his Tokyo office. She handed him the key to her apartment and asked him to look after her belongings should she fail to return from her trip within three days. Three days passed, then four, and Shiho did not come back. Stranger still, no one seemed to know where she had gone. Worried, Takeru began to investigate, and his efforts eventually turned up two witnesses who claimed to have seen Shiho board a ferry bound for Kokushi Island, near Kumamoto, alongside another woman about her age. Takeru sets off for the island in search of her, only to arrive at an unsettling place where nothing is quite what it seems. In a land steeped in age-old tradition, shadowed by a strange religion, and marked by several mysterious deaths, can Takeru uncover what truly happened to his friend? This manga is an adaptation of the novel series of the same title by Ono Fuyumi, author of Ghost Hunt, and delivers the same gripping, suspenseful brand of horror as its source material.
