Planet Guardian

Koyuki is a middle school student defined more by her anxiety than by any heroic ambition. A coward at heart, she never imagined herself as humanity's last line of defense, yet the mantle of the "chosen one" has been thrust upon her regardless. Her unwanted duty is clear: fend off malevolent alien invaders and forcefully deport them back to their desolate galactic prison. Each encounter sends a jolt of terror through her, and she faces every battle with palpable reluctance, wishing she could simply trade her destiny for a quiet, ordinary life. To make matters stranger, Koyuki isn't fighting alone. Her steadfast, if overwhelmingly eccentric, ally is her older brother—a fervent magical girl otaku who treats her real-life struggles like his favorite television series—alongside Pyrosuke, her loyal and competent guide who actually knows what they are doing. This mismatched trio stumbles through chaos and comedy, turning every high-stakes confrontation into a spectacle of bickering, panic, and improbable solutions. Defying the tropes of its genre, *Planet Guardian* eschews somber drama and tragic backstories in favor of unabashed humor. It is a playful parody that celebrates and subverts the magical girl tradition, reminding readers that heroism isn't always noble—sometimes, it's just hilariously awkward.
