Persona 3

Orphaned as a young boy, a teenager returns to the city of his childhood and enrolls at Gekkoukan High School. Ordinary student life is soon shattered when he comes under attack from Shadows — sinister beings that feed on the minds of their victims. In that moment of peril, a dormant power awakens within him: Orpheus, the Persona that stands as his sole weapon against these creatures of darkness. His gift, it turns out, is not his alone. Other students at his new school share the same ability, and through them he learns of the "Dark Hour" — a concealed span of time that slips in between one day and the next, swarming with Shadows. Resolving to fight back, he joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), standing shoulder to shoulder with his newfound friends against the encroaching threat. Having signed a contract binding him to accept his fate of his own free will, the protagonist takes up arms alongside his SEES comrades against the Greater Shadows — monstrous incarnations bearing the traits and visages of the first twelve Major Arcana of the Tarot. Even as the battles continue, he keeps crossing paths with the child who first presented him with that contract at the very beginning, eventually befriending the boy who calls himself Pharos — an entity who is, in truth, the embodiment of Death itself, the thirteenth Arcana.
