The Edge of Ambiguity

For Shin Soo-young, school exists for a single purpose: study. Every hour in the classroom is a step toward strong grades, a prestigious university, and eventually a stable career—the means to lift the weight off his family's shoulders. Friendship never factors into the plan. To Soo-young, human connection is an unpredictable, unstable thing, and anything that uncertain can only end in hurt. Then there is Tae Jihwan, his opposite in nearly every way. Effortlessly charming, wealthy, academically gifted, and surrounded by more friends than any one person could reasonably need, Jihwan drifts through school without a care in the world. Yet for reasons Soo-young cannot begin to fathom, the popular boy has set his sights on him. However hard Soo-young searches for a hidden motive, none reveals itself—and Jihwan, nothing if not persistent, simply refuses to give up. Little by little, the walls Soo-young built around himself begin to come down. But letting someone in is its own kind of risk, and with every step closer, the ground beneath him feels less and less solid.
