Summary

Official Details
As Rohan, a celebrated young Japanese manga artist, sketches in the hallowed halls of the Louvre, his quiet concentration is broken by the arrival of a mysterious and breathtakingly beautiful woman. She speaks to him of a masterpiece hidden from the world for over two centuries, a painting steeped in a malevolent curse. This artwork was rendered using the blackest ink ever created, a substance derived from the sap of a thousand-year-old tree—a sacred life the painter felled without the Emperor's consent. For this transgression, the artist paid with his life, but the painting itself was spared from the flames by a prescient Louvre curator who recognized its dark power and chose to sequester it away. Years later, Rohan's fascination with the legend compels him to travel to Paris, where he formally requests the museum to retrieve the painting from the depths of its subterranean archives. He believes he is simply pursuing an extraordinary piece of art history, a story to inspire his own work. However, as the heavy canvas is finally brought to light, Rohan discovers that the curse is not a mere myth. He has arrogantly unsealed a dormant power that defies all logic, and he is utterly unprepared for the terrifying, reality-altering force he has now unleashed upon himself and the world around him.
