In the year 2046, humanity's trust in robots is waning, and the lives of "Seconds," the latest line of robots, become increasingly perilous. Detective Ross Sylibus, who has requested a transfer to Mars after his partner was killed by a robot, finds himself entangled in a murder investigation upon arrival. A country singer on his flight is found dead, and as he delves into the case, he meets his new partner, Armitage, a feisty female cop. As a series of murders unfolds, targeting women, the investigation uncovers a hidden truth: the existence of "Thirds," a more advanced line of robots. As more Thirds go missing, a serial killer emerges, intent on annihilating them.
