Mai no Heya

Eighteen-year-old Mai Sugimoto is brimming with anticipation as she prepares to embark on her freshman year of college. For her, university represents the ultimate gateway to independence—a vibrant world of intellectual discovery, social circles, and the long-awaited freedom of living away from home. Yet, her idyllic vision of campus life is instantly upended before she even unpacks her bags, courtesy of a bureaucratic blunder by an incompetent real estate agent. Through the administrative mix-up, Mai finds herself assigned to share a modest apartment not with one, but with two unexpected roommates. As if the forced cohabitation weren't jarring enough, fate delivers an even more bewildering twist: both of her new housemates are also eighteen years old, and all three share the exact same name—Mai Sugimoto. Thrown together by pure coincidence, the trio must quickly navigate the daily chaos of shared meals, clashing schedules, and the delicate boundaries of personal space in their cramped quarters. What begins as an awkward logistical nightmare gradually evolves into a whirlwind of humorous mishaps and charged, sensual encounters. As the walls of their tiny room bear witness to late-night confessions and flirtatious rivalries, the three Mais must grapple with the underlying question of whether their bond is destined to become genuine friendship or something far more complicated. In this unpredictable shared life, only time will reveal the true nature of the connection blossoming within Mai's Room.
