Portland Rookies

The Portland Rookies are one of the newest franchises in Major League Baseball, competing in the Northwest Division of the West League. Despite a decade of existence since their inaugural season, the team has never once finished a year with a winning record. Their dismal performance has earned them the mocking nickname "Losers" among fans and critics alike. Last season was no exception, as they set a league-worst record of 30 wins and 132 losses. This season, however, brings an unexpected twist as two Japanese players join the struggling roster. The first is Katsuboshi Shouri, a pitcher widely hailed as Japan's most powerful right-handed arm. The second is Takami Sanshin, an extreme slugger whose at-bats inevitably result in either a strikeout or a home run, with absolutely nothing in between. With these polarizing additions to the lineup, the franchise faces a pivotal crossroads. Will the Rookies somehow surpass last year's historically abysmal record, or will these new arrivals provide the spark needed to finally claw their way out of the depths of despair? The Rookies' defining season begins now.
