Hetalia Axis Powers

Hetalia Axis Powers presents World War II as if every nation were a pretty boy, each one a comically exaggerated stereotype. America is defined by his love of hamburgers, Russia by his devotion to vodka, and China by pandas and a wok. Through these personified countries, the series turns international relations and historical conflict into absurd, character-driven comedy, with national quirks and rivalries driving many of its encounters. The story centers largely on Italy, who is represented by both a North and a South Italian character. The title itself is thought to mock Italy: the "Hetalia" portion likely plays on hetare, meaning "useless," reinforcing the series' humorous portrayal of the nation. Around Italy, the other countries' personalities and stereotypes shape the chaotic, satirical world in which the manga unfolds.
