Listen Carefully

It tells the story of the protagonist, junior high school girl Tsukishima Shizuku, who loves reading. One day, he noticed on the library cards of several borrowed books that he had always borrowed the books earlier than her - Amasawa Seiji. With her later encounter with Amasawa himself, and her fate of being followed by Amasawa's fat cat to Amasawa's home on the hillside, Tsukishima and Amasawa's relationship and desire to encourage each other began. The story also vaguely illustrates the trade-off between the reality of middle school students entering college and the realization of their wishes - although the "raw stone" is beautiful, it still needs to be carved into something great; and the scene where Tsukishima Shizuku and Amasawa's family played together fascinated many viewers. There is another episode in the story at Amasawa's house. There is a sculpture of the Cat Baron in Amasawa's house, and the Cat Baron's eyes are inlaid with two gems. The light refracted in the sunset fascinates the guest Tsukishima Shizuku; this cat man also witnesses the antique collector Azawa. The poignant story of his grandfather and his lover also gave Tsukishima Shizuku the inspiration and journey of writing novels; the Cat Baron and the fat cat later appeared again in another Studio Ghibli work "The Cat's Repayment" in 2002, and became the protagonists.
