In the shadow of corporate city-states that prosper by scavenging the remnants of a collapsed civilization, hunters venture into treacherous ruins to unearth ancient technological relics. These artifacts possess capabilities far beyond modern innovation, promising unimaginable wealth to the rare few who survive the expedition. However, the vast majority meet brutal ends at the hands of mutated bioweapons and autonomous mechanical guardians. Akira is an uneducated, starving orphan surviving on the fringes of Kugamayama City, caught between its towering walls and the surrounding desolation. With no protection or prospects, he views relic hunting as his only chance to escape the squalor of the slums. Yet his initial, desperate excursion into the ruins nearly costs him his life.
