Kanikousen

This manga is an adaptation of Takiji Kobayashi’s classic novel, *Kanikousen*. The story unfolds aboard a Japanese crab-fishing vessel that doubles as a floating cannery. Within the confines of this ship, the laborers endure grueling and deplorable working conditions while receiving only meager wages for their relentless toil. Their daily existence is defined by exhaustion and exploitation, as they are pushed to their physical limits under the watchful eye of a ruthless superintendent who governs the crew with an iron fist. Driven to the breaking point by this oppressive regime, the workers find themselves trapped in a desperate struggle for survival. Among them is Shinjo, a laborer who refuses to accept their bleak fate any longer. Disgusted by the superintendent's tyrannical rule and the suffering of his fellow crew members, he begins to voice his dissent. Recognizing that their only hope lies in collective action, Shinjo urges his peers to stand together against their oppressors. His impassioned plea sets the stage for a tense and dangerous uprising, as the exploited workers prepare to launch a revolution on the isolated decks of the *Kanikosen*.
