My name is Joo In-gong, a title bestowed upon me by my parents that literally translates to "protagonist." Naturally, carrying such a grandiose name came with inevitable consequences. From the earliest days of kindergarten through elementary, middle, and high school, I endured relentless teasing from everyone around me. Had I followed the expected path and enrolled in university, the mockery would have undoubtedly continued there as well. For a long time, the weight of those expectations made me genuinely despise the very name I was born with. However, my perspective has since shifted entirely. What once felt like a cruel joke now seems like something far more deliberate. Rather than resenting the endless ridicule, I have come to view my unusual name in a completely different light. Perhaps being called Joo In-gong was never just an eccentric parental choice or a source of childhood embarrassment. Instead, it may have been a subtle form of foreshadowing—a quiet hint that my life was always destined to unfold exactly like the story of a true protagonist.
