Laughter in the Sunshine

Taiyo Kiriyama is well aware that his apartment strictly prohibits pets, yet when he discovers an abandoned cat, he simply cannot leave the helpless creature behind. His attempt to sneak the animal into his home is quickly thwarted by the building manager, Asahi Taira. Desperate to protect the stray, Taiyo pleads for leniency, and Asahi offers a compromise: Taiyo may keep the cat for one month while searching for its permanent home, but in return, he must serve as Asahi’s personal errand boy. Though the arrangement initially feels like a heavy burden, spending time with Asahi gradually reveals a surprisingly endearing side to the strict manager. As they navigate their daily tasks together, Taiyo begins to genuinely look forward to their interactions, and his fondness soon deepens into something far more profound. However, just as his romantic feelings take root, Taiyo discovers a painful truth—Asahi is already in love with someone else. Caught between his growing affection and the reality of Asahi’s unrequited heart, Taiyo faces a difficult emotional crossroads. He must decide whether to selflessly support the man he loves in pursuing another person's happiness, or if his own blossoming emotions will ultimately complicate everything they have built together.
