Gakkou no Kaidan

Set within the halls of Tengurihama Academy, Gakkou no Kaidan follows Yukihiro Kanba, a young man who has recently enrolled at the school after being adopted by his uncle. Still adjusting to his new environment, Yukihiro’s ordinary days take an unexpected turn when he encounters a mysterious girl named Yuuko Kokonoe. He watches as she sprints past him on the stairwell, vanishing down the steps with startling speed and leaving him bewildered by her sudden appearance. Shortly after this strange encounter, Yukihiro crosses paths with members of the gymnastics club, who aggressively attempt to recruit him into their ranks. Before they can pressure him further, Yuuko intervenes and pulls him away from the situation. However, her rescue comes with its own strings attached: she forces him to join the "Staircase Club," an unofficial and unsanctioned student organization dedicated entirely to competitive racing up and down the school's stairs. Initially, Yukihiro is deeply reluctant to participate. The Staircase Club carries a notoriously poor reputation among the student body, making it an unappealing prospect for someone trying to find his footing at a new academy. Yet, once he experiences the sheer adrenaline and thrill of the races firsthand, his hesitation fades. Finding the high-speed activity unexpectedly exhilarating, Yukihiro ultimately embraces the challenge and commits himself to the unconventional club.
