Heart no Okurimono

Born with a fragile heart, Shiro has spent the vast majority of her life confined to her bed. Throughout her isolated childhood, her only true comfort was the unwavering companionship of Kuro, a girl from the neighborhood who visited her faithfully year after year. Their quiet bond became Shiro’s lifeline, offering her a glimpse of the world beyond her sickroom as the two grew up together. However, Shiro’s condition eventually deteriorates to a critical point where a heart transplant becomes her sole chance at survival. Faced with the imminent loss of her dearest friend, Kuro makes an extraordinary and selfless decision: she offers her own living heart to Shiro, choosing to have it replaced with a mechanical one in order to save her. This profound sacrifice forever alters the trajectory of both their lives. The story follows Shiro and Kuro as they navigate the physical and emotional complexities of their new realities. Bound together by an irreversible act of devotion, the two girls must learn to adjust to the unfamiliar rhythms beating within their chests while confronting the deepening, unspoken feelings they hold for one another.
