Dramatic Irony

“Can you give me a happy ending?” Komatsu Risa has harbored deep feelings for her childhood friend, Sano Chihiro, for as long as she can remember. Their bond is so effortless and intimate that those around them frequently mistake the two for a couple already dating. Yet, despite this closeness, Chihiro remains entirely oblivious to Risa’s true emotions. The fragile illusion of their dynamic shatters when he unexpectedly accepts a romantic confession from another girl, leaving Risa devastated by the sudden loss of her first love. Crushed by heartbreak and unsure of where to turn, Risa finds herself confiding in an unlikely figure: Natsuo, her homeroom teacher. On the surface, Natsuo appears detached and indifferent to the struggles of his students, making him a peculiar choice for comfort. However, in her moment of profound vulnerability, Risa reaches out to him, hoping that someone—anyone—might help guide her through the pain of unrequited affection. As she pours out her grief to a man who seems to care very little, she quietly wonders if it is still possible to find happiness after losing the person she loved most.
