Working!! Cat Group

Written and illustrated by Takatsu Karino, Working!! Cat Group is a web comic originally published at irregular intervals on the author's personal website beginning in 2002. It serves as the foundational origin for the later serialized four-panel comic strip manga version of Working!!, which was officially published in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine. Although both iterations center around a family restaurant named Wagnaria, they feature entirely different casts and settings by focusing on separate branch locations within the same shared universe. The web comic follows store manager Sakaki Kenichirou and his staff, while maintaining subtle connections to the serialized manga. For instance, characters like Shirafuji Kyouko are old friends with Sakaki, and bandmate Adachi Masahiro shares a musical history with Satou Jun from the Young Gangan publication. To clearly distinguish between the two branches, the author affectionately refers to this original web comic cast as the "Cat Group" (Neko-gumi), contrasting them with the serialized manga's "Dog Group" (Inu-gumi).
