Bakemono no Ko

Two parallel worlds exist in strict separation, forbidden from ever crossing paths. One is the familiar human realm, rooted in the bustling streets of Tokyo’s Shibuya ward. The other is Shibutenmachi, a hidden domain inhabited entirely by bakemono. Within these isolated spheres live two profoundly solitary figures: a lonely human boy wandering the crowded city and an equally alone bakemono navigating his own supernatural society. Their disconnected lives are forever altered when the young boy unexpectedly stumbles across the boundary between realms and becomes lost within the strange world of Shibutenmachi. Far from home and surrounded by creatures he never knew existed, he encounters Kumatetsu, a powerful bakemono who decides to take the child under his wing as his official disciple. This unlikely apprenticeship binds the two lonely souls together, forging a connection that defies the ancient laws separating their kinds. Embracing his new life in the bakemono realm, the boy leaves behind his former identity and is given a new name—Kyuuta. As master and student navigate their shared isolation, they begin a journey that bridges the divide between humanity and the supernatural.
