Hyakkiyakou Juliet

Kayako is a spirited exorcist who has recently left her secluded island home to take up a new post in a sprawling metropolis. Driven by the memory of her late brother, she carries on his legacy of purifying malevolent entities. She does not face this daunting task alone; two powerful familiar spirits, known as shikigami, stand by her side to aid in her exorcisms. Because their true forms are too formidable for the human world, they adopt alternate shapes while among people: Kagari manifests as a pirate bird, and Kohaku takes the guise of a silver fox. Together, the trio works tirelessly to cleanse the city of impure spirits. However, Kayako’s unwavering dedication soon meets an unexpected trial. As she navigates the complexities of her duties in the bustling urban landscape, her deeply held beliefs begin to fracture. A profound internal conflict arises when she confronts a startling realization about the nature of her work—she no longer desires to save evil spirits. This crisis of faith forces the young exorcist to question the very foundation of her calling, setting the stage for a dramatic shift in her path as she struggles to reconcile her brother's legacy with her own evolving convictions.
