Sakura Buntsuu

Sakura Buntsuu is a manga anthology that weaves together several distinct short stories, each exploring unique facets of love, devotion, and human connection. The title story, set during Japan's Taisho period, unfolds as a tender narrative centered around the exchange of letters. Its emotional resonance is further explored in an after story, where a new pair of girls begins their own heartfelt correspondence, continuing the thematic thread of bonds forged through written words. Beyond its historical romance, the collection ventures into speculative and fantastical territory. One tale introduces the concept of a "PET"—a living being created for the express purpose of pleasing their master. This poignant story follows the evolving relationship between one such PET and her owner as they gradually develop genuine affection for one another. Another narrative transports readers into a classic fantasy setting, chronicling the romantic journey between a princess and her dedicated knight. The anthology also grounds itself in quieter, more introspective moments. It features stories about finding solace in nature, navigating the heavy burden of grief alongside a close friend, and making wishes upon the stars. Together, these varied vignettes form a cohesive collection that examines the many ways people seek comfort, express longing, and ultimately find one another.
