Kiki Haruma once harbored a deep desire to perform ballroom dancing in the traditional feminine "partner" role. However, as she grew older, her height increased dramatically, shattering her hopes of ever looking graceful in a dress or embracing traditionally girly aesthetics. Resigned to her stature, she is now a second-year high school student who has adapted by specializing in the masculine "leader" role on the dance floor. Her routine is abruptly disrupted when her current partner suddenly abandons her, leaving Kiki without anyone to dance with. The situation takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of Michiru Toribami, a petite and beautiful first-year student who joins the school's ballroom dance club. Seeing an opportunity, Kiki approaches the newcomer and asks her to step into the vacant partner role. To Kiki's surprise, Michiru declines the offer entirely. The first-year reveals that she exclusively dances the leading role herself, and she makes her intentions perfectly clear: she wants none other than Kiki to be her partner, setting the stage for a compelling dynamic between the two dancers.
