Raise the Demon

On a rain-soaked afternoon, Motoi and his friend Reiichi are heading home when they cross paths with a young girl of seemingly foreign descent. Without explanation, she guides the two boys away from their usual route, leading them to a peculiar shop nestled along a quiet hillside slope. Inside, they are introduced to the establishment's proprietor, an elderly man named Shouten. What initially appears to be an ordinary storefront quickly reveals itself to be something far more extraordinary: Shouten is a specialized dealer in exotic wildlife, harboring creatures that range from rare earthly animals to genuine demon beasts. Captivated by the mysterious and otherworldly creatures housed within the shop's walls, Motoi finds himself unable to simply walk away. Driven by an overwhelming fascination with these mythical beings, he makes the bold decision to take on employment under Shouten's roof. His new role carries a singular, daunting responsibility—he must learn to care for and raise a demon beast of his own. Thus begins Motoi’s remarkable journey into a hidden world of supernatural wildlife, where every day brings him face-to-face with increasingly wondrous and dangerous creatures unlike anything he could have ever imagined.
