Smokey Sundays

Meguru and Yoriko are a devoted couple sharing an apartment, yet their demanding careers leave them with little opportunity to connect during the week. With both partners constantly occupied by work, Sunday stands as their sole sanctuary for uninterrupted companionship and shared intimacy. This precious day becomes the foundation of their relationship, offering a brief but meaningful respite from the relentless pace of their professional lives where they can finally focus entirely on one another. Seeking to make their limited time together even more special, Yoriko introduces the art of smoking food as a new shared ritual. The process transforms their Sundays into a collaborative experience that extends far beyond mere sustenance, encompassing the careful preparation, the patient waiting period, and the ultimate enjoyment of the meal. Each stage of cooking becomes an act of connection, reinforcing their bond through sensory anticipation and mutual participation in creating something delicious. Ultimately, this manga celebrates the quiet joy of cohabitation intertwined with the culinary tradition of smoked cuisine. It illustrates how happiness for Meguru and Yoriko is not found in grand gestures, but simply in being present with each other through every step of their weekly ritual. Their story is a heartwarming exploration of how shared domestic moments and food can sustain love amidst busy modern lives.
