Umimachi Diary

Set against the tranquil backdrop of Kamakura, Umimachi Diary follows the lives of three sisters who have built a quiet existence together in their childhood home. After their parents divorced and departed years ago, Sachi, Yoshino, and Chika learned to rely solely on one another. Sachi, the responsible eldest, works as a nurse; Yoshino, the middle sister, is employed at a local bank; and Chika, the youngest, spends her days working at a sporting goods store. Their carefully maintained routine is disrupted when they receive word that their estranged father has passed away. The news stirs little emotion among the younger siblings. Yoshino has not seen her father in over fifteen years and remains largely unaffected, while Chika retains almost no memories of him. Nevertheless, Sachi convinces her sisters to attend the funeral out of a sense of duty. It is there that their lives take an unexpected turn. They meet Suzu, a thirteen-year-old half-sister they never knew existed. With no one left to look after the young girl, the three sisters make a life-altering decision, inviting Suzu to leave everything behind and move into their family home to start anew together.
