Nihikime no Kingyo

Nihikime no Kingyo begins with a quiet yet consequential mistake. The story follows a student who serves as the class representative responsible for caring for the classroom animals. Entrusted with this daily duty, the protagonist faces an unexpected dilemma when one of the goldfish under their care manages to slip away and escape into a nearby river. This seemingly small incident sets the stage for a reflective narrative about responsibility, loss, and the unintended consequences of everyday actions. Beyond its opening tale, the manga offers readers a deeply personal glimpse into the creative mind behind it. The collection is uniquely structured to include selected entries from creator panpanya’s own diary, providing intimate context that bridges the gap between the author's real life and their imaginative storytelling. These autobiographical fragments enrich the reading experience, giving weight and texture to the fictional narratives presented throughout the volume. To further enhance the collection, the work also features detailed annotations accompanying each individual story. These notes offer additional insight into the themes, inspirations, and subtle nuances woven into the chapters. Together, the central narrative of the escaped goldfish, the diary excerpts, and the thoughtful commentary combine to form a distinctive and multifaceted reading experience that extends far beyond a traditional manga format.
