Whispers in the baseball world tell of a legendary catcher possessing the uncanny ability to transform any pitcher he pairs with into an absolute star. However, this miraculous partnership comes with a devastating price: the catcher demands the pitcher's very soul. Because every athlete who enters a battery with him continues to throw with everything they have until they ultimately meet their demise, he has earned the fearful moniker of the Grim Reaper. For Ryo Arakami, a struggling pitcher whose career has hit rock bottom, this ominous legend represents a desperate opportunity rather than a warning. Facing a bleak future in the sport, Ryo finds himself willing to make the ultimate bargain. Entranced by the promise of greatness regardless of the cost, he steps onto the field, ready to stake his very life on each throw in a high-stakes partnership that pushes the boundaries of baseball to the edge of mortality.
