Misshitsu no Hisokana Hoshi

Ukai is a detective burdened by an unusual and deeply inconvenient vulnerability: he is terrified of the dark. For a man whose profession often requires him to navigate shadowy alleys, dimly lit crime scenes, and the hidden corners of the city, this phobia presents a constant, exhausting challenge to his daily work. Despite his fears, Ukai has managed to carve out a quiet, manageable existence running his own modest investigative office, keeping his anxieties carefully concealed from the world around him. However, his fragile sense of stability is abruptly shattered when a familiar face unexpectedly resurfaces. Kondou, a former classmate from Ukai’s past, suddenly appears and establishes his own private investigation business directly next door. The arrival of someone who knows Ukai intimately from his earlier years threatens to expose the detective's closely guarded insecurities. Now, Ukai must contend not only with his persistent dread of the darkness but also with the unsettling proximity of a ghost from his past, turning his once-peaceful workplace into a source of mounting tension and personal conflict.
