Lady Snowblood - Resurrection

Set against the turbulent backdrop of Meiji-era Japan, a nation grappling with rapid modernization and pervasive moral decay, Lady Snowblood seeks to escape her violent history. Adopting the alias Kashima Yuki, she finds temporary refuge as an instructor of Swedish gymnastics at a girls’ grammar school, hoping to build a peaceful existence far removed from her blood-soaked past. This fragile tranquility is short-lived, however, as the era’s shifting social landscape continues to be marred by exploitation and unrest. Conservative political forces soon emerge as a formidable threat, disrupting Yuki’s new life and forcing her to confront the darkness she tried to leave behind. Bound by a solemn vow to the person who once saved her life, she has no choice but to take up arms once more, transforming back into the deadly assassin she swore to abandon. Her struggle becomes one of duty versus redemption, set within a society teetering between tradition and transformation. Originally serialized in 1973, this seminal manga was not collected into volume form until 2006.
