Toaru Kagaku no Railgun SS

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun SS is a short story set between September 3rd and 10th, during a unique international exchange program that allows Academy City students to travel abroad while welcoming outside visitors into their borders. Taking advantage of this brief window, Mikoto, Kuroko, Saten, and Uiharu embark on a field trip to the Arts and Sciences City, a sprawling metropolis constructed on an artificial island off the coast of California. Billed as a hub of cutting-edge technology by global standards—though still far inferior to the advancements found within Academy City—the destination is aggressively positioning itself to dethrone Hollywood as the entertainment capital of the world. Stunt performances and live shows are a constant fixture of daily life, creating a surreal environment where genuinely unusual events are simply dismissed as part of another elaborate production. Adding to the city's eccentric atmosphere, the warm coastal climate dictates local fashion; aside from when they are sleeping, everyone wears swimsuits at all times. Against this vibrant yet deceptive backdrop, the four girls must navigate a city where the line between reality and spectacle is perpetually blurred.
