The Big O

The Big O is the official comic adaptation of the acclaimed animated series, presenting a stylish fusion of manga aesthetics and classic film noir that expands beyond the original television narrative. The story unfolds in Paradigm City, a metropolis defined by collective amnesia. Forty years ago, an unexplained catastrophe erased the memories of every resident, forcing them to rebuild their society from scattered fragments of a forgotten culture. In this reconstructed world, Roger Smith operates as a skilled negotiator, serving as a vital intermediary between law enforcement, civilians, and criminals during high-stakes diplomatic confrontations. However, remnants of the lost past still haunt the city's present. Massive mechanical entities known as MegaDeuses—colossal robots constructed either by Paradigm City’s former inhabitants or perhaps by its amnesiac citizens themselves—lurk within the shadows of this forty-year-old world. When violence and chaos threaten to overwhelm the fragile order of the city, Roger Smith takes on a far more imposing role. Piloting a towering machine called The Big O, he steps beyond negotiation to deliver justice directly, confronting the madness unleashed upon Paradigm City with overwhelming force.
