Summer of Kappa

Summer vacation was about to begin, and primary school student Koichi Uehara picked up a big stone on his way home from school. He took the stone home, and unexpectedly when he washed it with water, a little kappa jumped out of it. The little river boy called him "Gu", so Kang Yi named it "Little Gu". Little Gu can speak human language, and he has been buried underground for hundreds of years. Kang Yi and Xiao Gu soon became good friends. They bathed together, ate together, and slept together. Other family members also accepted Xiaogu, and the little kappa became the secret of the Uehara family. One day, Xiaogu proposed that he wanted to go home and be with his friends. In order to let Xiao Gu know the outside world, Kang Yi quietly took him out. Little Gu was shocked to find that the environment had changed beyond recognition. In this place that was not suitable for a kappa to survive, there was no partner at all. Seeing Xiao Gu sad made Kang Yi feel uncomfortable too. He and Xiaogu traveled together and came to Tono County, where the legend of kappa is still preserved. The two found a place suitable for kappa life in the beautiful nature. Little Gu happily swam in the clear river, and Kang Yi was also happy for it. However, no other kappa can be found here. When Kang heard the villagers say, "You can get 10 million if you catch a kappa!", he hurriedly left there with Xiao Gu. Back home, Kang Yi was surprised to bump into a tabloid reporter. It turned out that the man had heard that the Uehara family had a kappa and wanted to take pictures. Xiaogu's secret was finally known to everyone. Kang Yi's father was ordered by the company to let Kappa appear on TV. For the sake of the Uehara family, Xiaogu agreed to participate in the TV show. However, among the guests present, it saw a man who looked very much like his father's murderer. Just when Xiaogu was surrounded by fear, an accident happened on the TV show. It tried its best to escape outside, but no matter where it went, it would see a dark crowd. In order to get rid of the humans who frightened him, Xiao Gu climbed up Tokyo Tower. The scorching summer sun exhausted it. Xiaogu looked down at the city and whispered alone: "There is no quiet place anywhere. This is the nest of humans. I can't do it anymore. I want to go to daddy..."
