Koganei Koito is a teenage shrine maiden serving at the Takamimi Shrine, a sacred site long rumored to house a powerful deity. However, the truth behind the local legends is far more unconventional. The shrine’s actual resident is an immortal elf who became stranded on Earth approximately four centuries ago. Rather than acting as a divine guardian, this ageless being has evolved into a complete recluse who refuses to step outside and has developed an insatiable passion for video games. Because of her deeply entrenched otaku lifestyle, the daily responsibilities of the shrine attendants have shifted dramatically. Instead of performing traditional spiritual duties, Koito and her colleagues must constantly cater to the elf’s obsession with modern technology. From handheld gaming consoles to the latest virtual reality headsets, the staff is tasked with keeping their shut-in resident entertained with every new gadget that hits the market. This delightful fantasy comedy follows the humorous dynamic between a dedicated young attendant and her ancient, technologically addicted charge as they navigate everyday life at the shrine.
