I Am a Hero in IBARAKI

Set in the prefecture of Ibaraki, this story follows a young protagonist whose daily life is defined by relentless hardship. Within the walls of his own home, he endures constant oppression from his in-laws, while his time at school offers no refuge. There, he faces unyielding bullying from the very people who were once his closest friends, leaving him entirely isolated from his peers. With nowhere left to turn, his sole source of comfort is Iggy, a devoted pet dog he rescued moments before the animal was scheduled to be euthanized. Bound together by their shared status as discarded and unwanted outcasts, the boy and his canine companion form an unbreakable bond against a world that has rejected them both. However, their fragile existence is suddenly threatened when the terrifying ZQN panic erupts, plunging society into chaos. As the outbreak spreads and survival becomes a desperate struggle, this unlikely pair must rely on each other to navigate the unfolding nightmare. Together, they face the ultimate test: can two souls already deemed unwanted by society endure the horrors of a world falling apart?
