Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei: Saikoroshi-hen

Serving as the epilogue to Matsuribayashi-hen, Saikoroshi-hen unfolds in August 1983, two months after the conclusion of the main story. Rika Furude is struck by a truck and awakens in an entirely unfamiliar reality where none of the tragedies that plagued her original world ever occurred. In this peaceful timeline, Keiichi Maebara never moved to Hinamizawa, Rena Ryuugu’s parents remained together, and the controversial dam project was resolved without conflict. Furthermore, Satoshi did not run away, and both Satoko’s and Rika’s parents are still alive. Yet, this seemingly perfect existence carries a devastating personal cost. Because the village never faced hardship, the group's beloved club was never formed, leaving Rika completely isolated and friendless. Instead of being her closest companion, Satoko actively bullies her. Hanyū is nowhere to be found, the villagers do not revere Rika as the reincarnation of Oyashiro, and Hinamizawa itself is scheduled to be submerged underwater in the near future. Trapped in this altered reality, Rika faces an agonizing ultimatum: she must either accept a lonely life in this sinless world or commit the unthinkable act of killing her own mother to escape it.
