Kyokugen Dasshutsu 9-jikan 9-nin 9 no Tobira: Alterna

Kyokugen Dasshutsu 9-jikan 9-nin 9 no Tobira: Alterna is a light novel adaptation of the acclaimed video game Zero Escape: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, featuring subtle narrative deviations from the original source material. The story centers on Junpei, a young man who awakens to find himself abducted and trapped aboard an eerily deserted cruise liner rapidly taking on water. Modeled after the ill-fated RMS Titanic—the infamous early twentieth-century vessel whose tragic sinking claimed over fifteen hundred lives—this decaying ship serves as the claustrophobic stage for a terrifying fight for survival. Alongside eight other kidnapped strangers, Junpei is coerced into participating in the Nonary Game, a sadistic trial governed by mysterious numerical bracelets worn by each captive. To ensure absolute compliance, small explosive devices have been surgically implanted within their stomachs, rigged to detonate should anyone dare to defy the rules. With only nine hours before the vessel plunges entirely beneath the waves, the group must navigate the labyrinthine corridors of the ship, solving intricate escape-the-room puzzles to unlock their path to freedom. As the ticking clock amplifies their desperation, the players are driven not only by the primal need to survive but also by a burning determination to uncover the sinister motives behind their abduction.
