Tetsuya: Jansei to Yobareta Otoko

In the desolate landscape of post-war Shinjuku during 1947, economic devastation has left the local populace struggling to secure basic necessities. Amidst widespread poverty and desperation, many residents turn to gambling as a precarious means of survival, seeking fortune in games of chance when legitimate opportunities are scarce. Within this harsh environment, mahjong parlors emerge as vital arenas where fortunes are won and lost, serving as both refuge and battleground for those with nothing left to lose. A wandering player named Tetsuya navigates these smoky establishments with remarkable confidence, consistently dominating his opponents through superior skill and tactical acumen. His winning streak fosters a sense of invincibility until he encounters Boushu-san, a gambler of extraordinary caliber whose expertise far surpasses anything Tetsuya has previously faced. This pivotal confrontation shatters his complacency, forcing him to confront the uncomfortable truth that his abilities remain incomplete despite his earlier successes. The meeting marks a crucial turning point in his journey, transforming what was once mere survival into a profound pursuit of mastery against an adversary who exposes the true depth of the game.
