Normal City

Set in a distant future where humanity has colonized other planets, Normal City explores a society that has come to accept the existence of individuals with extrasensory perception. Despite this widespread acknowledgment, the military views these ESP users merely as tools for warfare. At the center of this dark agenda is a scientist known only as Troll—whose real name is Samuel Jones—who conducts ruthless experiments on the psychics under his control. His most ambitious creation is a test subject designated "Kitty 101," a child biologically engineered by splicing multiple natural DNA strands with synthetic genetic material. To further manipulate her biology, she was given XY chromosomes, causing her to periodically shift into a male form. However, one of Troll’s colleagues, Jason Haven, refuses to let the child endure such torment. Driven by compassion and recognizing her striking resemblance to his own lost daughter, Jason rescues baby Kitty 101 from the laboratory and flees. He renames her Mars Haven and raises her as his own child, hoping to give her a life free from exploitation. Meanwhile, years pass, and Samuel Jones continues his merciless research on ESPs, leaving the shadow of his experiments looming over Mars's fragile new life.
