Summary

Official Details

"Bad Candy You Give Me" is a compelling anthology of dark and subtly strange short stories that explore the unsettling intersections of everyday life, grief, and the supernatural. Each narrative delves into quiet yet deeply disturbing moments, from two girls sharing bitter candy to a city girl feeling profoundly out of place in a remote fishing town. The collection navigates surreal transformations and emotional isolation, featuring tales such as a girl secretly feeding her friend who has inexplicably turned into a fish, and another grappling with the return of her oldest friend, who now lives in her room after coming back from the dead. The anthology further examines fractured identities and lingering loss through poignant vignettes. A young woman struggles with her sense of self and her relationship with her sister following their mother's death, while another wakes only to find a duplicate of herself standing nearby. The stories range from eerie cosmic events, like witnessing the moon crash under tidal forces, to quiet mysteries, such as a simple pencil rectangle drawn on a desk or half-eaten fish washing ashore after a group of girls vanishes. Woven together with memories triggered by the scent of peach blossoms and the heavy finality of leaving one's hometown, these twelve tales form a haunting mosaic of human fragility and bizarre, melancholic beauty.
