Peepo Choo

In the opening volume of this three-part series, readers are introduced to Milton, a young man living in Chicago who spends his time at a local comic book store. His primary reason for frequenting the shop is to watch the newest episodes of Peepo Choo, an anime that has achieved massive popularity despite its deeply eccentric and bizarre nature. For Milton, the show represents more than mere entertainment; it fuels a desperate desire to leave behind his bleak and uninspiring neighborhood. Milton’s ultimate dream is to travel across the world to Tokyo, where he imagines himself fully immersing in the culture by wearing his cosplay outfit until it completely wears out. As the story unfolds, the possibility of this fantasy becoming reality begins to take shape, setting the stage for an unexpected journey. Crafted by creator Smith, Peepo Choo is a sharp, alluring, and unapologetically ruthless narrative. It takes the idealized concept of a trans-Pacific romance and slices through it with striking precision, deliberately dismantling and defacing the worn-out conventions that have long defined the manga medium. The result is a bold, unconventional story that challenges expectations from its very first pages.
