Captivated, By You

In a school environment driven by strict social conformity, Hayashi’s open and guileless demeanor quietly commands the attention of both his classmates and complete strangers. Unapologetically true to himself, he moves through his days absorbed in idiosyncratic routines, such as counting every staircase in the building, photographing ordinary street signs, and drying sweet potatoes out on the classroom balcony. His refreshing authenticity sets him apart from the crowd, drawing curious eyes toward his wonderfully eccentric worldview. Conversely, Nikaidou has dedicated himself to perfecting a gloomy and dour facade designed to keep everyone at a safe distance. Viewed by the rest of the school as a bad omen shrouded in rumors of bad luck and supernatural powers, he relies on this intimidating barrier for protection. However, his isolation is challenged when a persistent classmate catches a glimpse behind the mask. Undeterred by the dark stories surrounding him, this student begins to pick away at Nikaidou’s carefully crafted persona, bridging the gap between his guarded interior and the outside world.
