Majo no Marie wa Majo ja Nai

Set against the backdrop of the sixteenth-century Holy Roman Empire, a period defined by widespread paranoia and relentless witch hunts, society has succumbed to mass hysteria. Any misfortune, no matter how trivial, is swiftly blamed on dark magic. Consequently, those accused of witchcraft face brutal interrogations and execution, regardless of their actual innocence or the circumstances surrounding the allegations. In this unforgiving era, suspicion alone is enough to condemn someone to death. Amidst this deadly climate lives Marie, a genuine witch with an unusual disposition. Unlike the malevolent figures described in local folklore, she possesses a deep, inherent love for humanity and desires nothing more than to live peacefully alongside them. However, her true nature makes such a dream incredibly dangerous. To survive in a world that would eagerly burn her at the stake, Marie must meticulously conceal her magical identity from everyone around her. Her story becomes a tense balancing act between her heartfelt wish for human connection and the constant, life-threatening necessity of hiding exactly what she is.
