Gesu to Kamisama

When a mysterious transfer student named Midori arrives at school, her aloof demeanor immediately sets her apart from the rest of the class. Despite her icy exterior, she inexplicably draws the attention of everyone around her. A student named Ao soon discovers the startling reason behind this fascination: Midori is no ordinary girl, but an actual deity. After witnessing undeniable proof of her supernatural nature, Ao carelessly makes a wish, mirroring the requests other students have been sending to a newly popular "God mail" address circulating the school. Midori grants his desire, but the price is devastating. She kills him, only to resurrect him as a shinigami—a death god bound to serve her will. Now trapped in a grim new existence, Ao learns that his duty is to appear wherever someone intends to take their own life and die in their place. He endures the agonizing pain of every death he suffers, making his relentless task pure torment. Worse still, he realizes that merely interrupting a single suicide attempt does nothing to resolve the underlying despair driving a person to such extremes. Burdened by endless suffering and moral doubt, Ao must search for a way to endure his harrowing fate.
