Easygoing Daddy

Nonki na Tousan is a pioneering early manga comic strip created by Asou Yutaka, which was first published in 1923 in the Hochi Shinbun newspaper. Inspired by American comics, particularly Bringing Up Father, the strip follows the humorous antics of its main character, Nonkina Tousan (Easygoing Daddy), alongside his partner, Tonari no Taishou. As one of the early precursors to the modern four-panel (yonkoma) format, the series became a massive success. Its widespread popularity generated numerous merchandising items, as well as multiple adaptations into animated shorts and feature films.
