The Kangwoo Effect

After eight long years spent living in Seoul, San-Deul finally makes the journey back to his hometown. Seeking a sense of purpose upon his return, he agrees to take on a mentoring role for a former student named Kang-Woo. However, the reunion quickly reveals that time has profoundly changed the young man. The innocent boy San-Deul once knew is gone, replaced by someone far more complex and unrecognizable, leaving his new mentor struggling to reconcile the past with the present. Despite this striking transformation, traces of Kang-Woo’s former self linger just beneath his hardened exterior. Most notably, his deep-seated affection for San-Deul has never truly faded, quietly persisting through the years of separation. This enduring soft spot complicates their dynamic from the very beginning, blurring the boundaries between guidance and personal attachment. What initially starts as a straightforward teacher-student arrangement gradually shifts into something far more intimate and unexpected. As San-Deul navigates the unfamiliar reality of who Kang-Woo has become, the two are drawn together by lingering feelings neither anticipated. Their evolving connection challenges the limits of their original agreement, transforming a simple mentorship into a profound and complicated bond.
