Tsukidate no Satsujin

Sorami Karigaya is a high school girl living on the island of Okinawa who has endured profound loss. Her father passed away many years ago, and her mother recently died as well. Just two months after her mother's passing, an attorney from Hokkaido arrives at Sorami's home with startling news regarding her inheritance. He reveals that her maternal grandfather, whom Sorami had always been told was long dead, is in fact alive and wishes to settle matters concerning his estate. The lawyer explains that Sorami's mother fabricated the story of her father's death out of deep-seated resentment, harboring such intense hatred for him that she erased his very existence from her daughter's life. When Sorami finally travels to Hokkaido to meet this unknown relative, the attorney discloses one final, unsettling condition: her grandfather can only be reached by boarding a specific express train known as the Genya. It is the exact mode of transportation her mother had strictly forbidden her from ever taking, leaving Sorami to confront the lingering shadows of her family's dark past.
