Toraware no Mi

Toraware no Mi is a compelling anthology of short stories exploring the complexities of love, loss, and human connection. In the titular tale, "Arrested Man," Iori—a notoriously callous playboy—finds his reckless past returning to haunt him. "Memories of the Snow" follows a young boy rescued from a blizzard by a mysterious figure who may be a snow spirit; after promising to marry his savior, he finds himself saved once more years later. "Night without Motion" delves into Kouichi’s childhood trauma, which builds emotional walls between him and Akira, though Akira eventually breaks through these barriers to deepen their physical intimacy. In "Naive Gespenst," a man defies death itself to reunite with his beloved. The collection continues with "Sigh's Temperature," where a recently divorced, physically disabled man drunkenly contacts an escort service, only for the escort to unexpectedly appoint himself as a permanent caretaker. "Shape of a Glance" centers on Yuuki, who has always protected his colorblind friend Saachi. When the typically aloof Saachi suddenly begins socializing with strangers and deliberately ignoring Yuuki, their bond is tested. Finally, "Body by Body" captures the profound grief of losing a partner. Rou mourns his lover Sen in solitude until an unexpected visitor arrives at his door, offering a glimmer of hope in his darkest hour.
